| Beskrivelse:
If any production in the world of music since the dawn of this new millennium has gone down in history as a full-blown scandal, it is Hans Neuenfels' production of the operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss at the Salburger Festpiele. Neuenfels born in Krefeld 1941 and long regarded as the enfant terrible of the theatre scene, was not the first person in the history of Fledermaus adaptations who has dared to scrape away at the work's surface. This time, however, unconventional directing was accompanied by substantial alterations in the libretto. Neuenfels wrote new dialog, incorporating texts from other authors: Karl Kraus, Gottfried Benn and Hugo Ball. The conductor is Marc Minkowski, born in Paris in 1962, who became one of the most important representatives of the Originalklangszene (pioneers of a new approach to baroque music with his Musiciens du Louvre founded in 1982. He led an intriguing soloist ensemble in this extraordinary production. |
